Shihan Larry Castanon has been training for over 35 years and teaching for 25 years. In addition to holding a 5th degree Black Belt in Karate, he also holds a 2nd degree Black Belt in Close Combat Martial Arts, is a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Self Defense Instructor, a Krav Maga Self Defense Instructor, a certified USA Wrestling Coach, and a SafeSport certified Coach.
Additionally, he is a Certified Personal Fitness Trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Shihan Larry began his martial arts training at 10 years old in the Bronx (south) borough of New York City. After serving in the US Navy he earned his degree in Biology from the State University of New York while competing and teaching Karate, Kickboxing, Jiu-jitsu, and No Holds Barred competition. In 1999 he opened his first full time martial arts and fitness studio in Garnerville, NY. In 2009 he opened another martial arts and fitness studio in Atlanta, GA.
Shihan Larry now focuses on teaching private lessons, small group training, workshops, and seminars. He is also writing a follow up book to the original one he authored named, "Little Man Fight," a self defense book with techniques designed specifically for smaller, weaker individuals.
